For 13 years I suffered from a chronic illness that many in the medical world believe has no cure – two forms of environmental illness called chemical and electromagnetic sensitivity. I had one of the best M.D.’s in the country treating me along with several other alternative practitioners who were excellent in their field. Still, it wasn’t enough to return me to a consistent state of wellness.
In 1997 a friend encouraged me to adopt a new approach, one that would involve body, mind and spirit in the healing process. I traveled to a place in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts called the Option Institute, a place offering assistance to people faced by adversity. It was here I learned of the mind-body connection, the effect fear and limiting beliefs play in keeping the immune system at a low ebb. As the Institute loving mentors worked with me, it soon became apparent that this was a missing link preventing me from recovering. Desiring wellness above all else, I chose to move from my home in Colorado to the Institute, enrolling in their mentor training program while continuing to explore my own personal issues contributing to decreased immune function.
Choosing to engage my heart and mind in the healing process marked the beginning of a soul searching journey, requiring me to dig deep to uncover and let go of the emotional stress crippling my immune system. I had become so out of balance in my thinking and how I lived my life, my body was simply reflecting it back to me in the form of illness. As I began to view certain life experiences from a different perspective and my feelings about myself and past events changed, I gradually became less reactive to chemicals in my environment. After 18 months I was freed from reactivity and enjoyed a normal lifestyle once again.
During my last year at Option, I authored a book entitled Healing Environmental Illness from Within in an effort to help others who struggle with this challenging illness.
After three years at the Institute I returned to my former home in Boulder, Colorado to begin a new career as a mentor with the intention of helping others as the Institute mentors had helped me. But less than a year later I found myself in a state of fragile health once again which I attributed to the increased air pollution. Seeking a cleaner air environment, I moved to Taos, NM. Shortly after arriving my health took an unexpected turn for the worse. It appeared I was reacting to the vegetation in my new location. Local doctors had little to offer but the usual supplements and the promise “Next year will be better when your body adjusts to its new surroundings here in New Mexico.”
This was my twentieth year with chronic illness and by now I knew enough to suspect the root cause of the latest downturn. Remembering the hopeful stories a Boulder friend had related to me about a Brazilian healer known as John of God, I chose to follow my intuition and made plans to travel to his spiritual healing center located in Abadiania, a small town south of the city of Brasilia.
There was no way to foresee that this decision would change the course of my life. It was in this special place in June of 2005 that I experienced a profound healing of my physical illness. More importantly, the spiritual issue behind it was revealed to me in a series of incidents to defy the imagination. In a few words I was helped to see the correlation between my illness and the separation I experienced from God’s Love at an early age, the ill effects following me into adulthood and affecting many areas of life.
Since my healing I’ve returned to the Casa annually, each time asking and receiving help to re-establish a meaningful relationship with my Creator. Numerous physical maladies have also been alleviated during these visits. I have been blessed to reclaim not only my health, but my happiness as well.
The Crystal Bed is a modality used daily at the Casa to balance the chakras and remove energy blocks from the body. In 2009 I was granted the privilege of bringing one home for my own use and to assist others who feel drawn to it.
In present day (January 2014) I live in Swannanoa, North Carolina (bordering Asheville) and belong to a spiritual group committed to achieving Self-Realization. We are helped and guided in our process by a woman named Mary Nadler of Fairview and a group of Ascended Masters who have been working with and through Mary for some years
In the last two years our group has received many gifts from the Ascended Masters to assist us in moving into a higher state of consciousness. The Living Light Blessings, which you will read about in this website, are among them and I am pleased to say they can now be passed on to others. The blessings come in for 20-30 minutes and can be done in person or over the phone.
